Cost – We’re not anticipating any costs (dues) except when we bring in an outside professional to teach a group lesson and this would only be a flat per person cost for the lesson. If the HIBDC decides to host a full blown dance as a private event, than we will charge a fee for each person attending the dance to pay for live entertainment and possibly food. This would also be open to the outside ballroom dance public to cover the costs.
Structure and Rules
Outside Participants – The Heritage Isle Ballroom Dance Club is exactly as stated – Heritage Isle. Dance sessions and all lessons are strictly for Heritage Isle residents only. The only exception is for a resident that needs a single partner that is not a resident. In this case the resident is allowed to bring in one non Heritage Isle guest to function as their partner.
Partner Required - Each member must bring a partner to the lessons and dances. But this shouldn’t be viewed as only a life partner. We are looking for people to bring a dance partner. This could be an acquaintance or friend. A number of the singles who have joined the club are doing just that. This works well and we believe the club will survive.
Purpose - Promote the common interest and enjoyment in Ballroom Style dancing via lessons, practice sessions, and sponsored dances. Novices to Experienced dancers are welcome to join.
Out of State Guests - Guests of a member, who have traveled from another county or out of state, are allowed to participate in the clubs events with the member.
No Rotation of Partners During Lessons - There will be no expectation of partner rotation during any lesson nor any "Mixer" activity during any dance.
Lesson/Session - Each session will occur per the Calendar in the clubhouse ballroom. The session will be 1 hours long.
Dance Style – All ballroom dances that require a partner in closed form position. Examples would be Rumba, Cha-cha, Salsa, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Swing, Hustle, etc. Freestyle and Line Dancing will not be supported since these styles 1) don’t fit the partner in closed form position and 2) disrupt the flow of smooth ballroom dance styles.
